Laura Beth Coomer was born and raised in North Texas where she grew up with a love for gospel music singing with her family at her church. Coomer has sang on such television shows as "Texas Country Gospel", "Southern Gospel Praise", "Johnny High's Country Music Review" and more. She has performed in the popular musical "The Promise" and just released her debut album Stand Still in June 2013.

We'd like to thank Laura Beth from taking the time to do this interview with us.

BreatheCast: You released your first full length album Stand Still in June 2013, how does it feel to finally have it out?

Laura Beth:  "Relieved honestly! You start this huge project thinking you can tackle everything at once and get it to the whole world in a couple of months and a year or more down the road your thinking, "Is there an end in sight?" But, I've learned so much through all of this, from working with other Artists to Graphics and I am so thankful! And, I really thought that things would slow down once I wrapped this CD up but, it hasn't been that way at all...Thank God!"

BreatheCast: Who has inspired your music?

Laura Beth: "My Daddy mainly. I grew up listening to him and my family sing and play those good old, all night gospel singings with Friends, which really sparked my musical interest. Seeing them have so much fun praising our Lord and bringing souls into His kingdom, how could you not want to serve Him this way?"

BreatheCast: How would you describe your sound for people that haven't heard of you guys and what bands have influenced your sound?

Laura Beth: "I have a Bluegrass/Country/Blues sound. Sonya Isaacs, Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood and my good Friend Jackie Brown have all had an influence on my vocal style. They are such amazing female Vocalists! I was so blessed and honored to have Jackie sing the background vocals on this album. That really meant a lot to me."

BreatheCast: What have you learned from being in the cast of "The Promise"?

Laura Beth: "It really opened my eyes to how important all the arts can be in soul winning. It's not just through preaching or music but every form of entertainment can be used as worship if we allow it to be. Whether you're a Singer, Dancer, Stage Hand, Sound Person, each part can help tell His story."

BreatheCast: If you could collaborate with one Secular Artist and one Christian Artist, who would you choose?

Laura Beth: "Ooh, tough question...Radney Foster and Vince Gill. I have so many favorite Artists it's really hard to narrow it down!"

BreatheCast: What is an encouraging message you would give to young girls about living in the culture today and keeping a pure lifestyle?

Laura Beth: "Surround yourself with good Christian friends! I cannot stress that enough. The Bible says "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend" (Proverbs 27:17), your circle of friends make all the difference. You need the support and encouragement from friends of like faith and morals.  "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners."(I Corinthians 15:33)"

BreatheCast: Do you have a favorite scripture as a band or a truth that you guys use a lot? If not, what are some personal favorite verses of yours?

Laura Beth: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." II Timothy 1:7 has always been my favorite!"

BreatheCast: What are your touring plans for this Fall 2013?

Laura Beth: "My family and I are performing in the great Passion play "The Promise" in Glen Rose, Texas this season so, that will keep me pretty busy until November. I will be featured on the television show "Southern Gospel Praise" filmed in Dallas, Texas and I am also booked at several churches in the North Texas area, all of those dates may be found on my Facebook page."
