The History Channel's "The Bible" Miniseries: "In The Beginning"

The first episode of History Channel's, "The Bible" miniseries aired Sunday night. The 10-hour series builds towards an Easter conclusion, March 31st and will cover the book of Genesis to Revelation. Each episode will feature several biblical stories told through live action and CGI.
Roma Downey, Monica from "Touched by an Angel", and husband, "Survivor" producer Mark Burnett, created and produced the series. Downey also plays Mary, mother of Jesus.
Appropriately titled, "In The Beginning" starts with Noah by himself in his ark meditating on man's fall from Adam into wickedness and sin, recounting the story of Eve and the forbidden fruit. Enduring the flood God sent down to cleanse humanity, the episode quickly jumps years into the future to when Noah's descendant, Abraham is told by God to reach the "promised land" he'd first need to prove his faith. Instead of joining his uncle, Abraham's nephew Lot decides to leave and start his own life in Sodom.

After reaching the "promised land" God tests Abraham's faith once more. Though Abraham's has been promised many children of his own, his wife Sarah is infertile. After Sarah begrudgingly urges her husband to sleep with Hagar, a family servant, Abraham's first son, Ishmael, is born.
After some time God sends three angels to tell Abraham Sarah can now have the "chosen" child. After Isaac is born, Abraham banishes Hagar and Ishmael, forcing them into the wilderness.
It's now time for Abraham to prove his faith in God once and for all. God's final test calls Abraham to kill Isaac, sacrificing him for God's will. Fully intending to sacrifice his son, Abraham passes the test, allowing Isaac to live.
Here begins the Jewish faith with the descendants of Abraham. Isaac later has a son named Jacob who God refers to as Israel.
