"American Idol" Season 12 Says Goodbye to Curtis Finch Jr.

Curtis Finch Jr, the self-proclaimed "Next Luther Vandross" was eliminated from American Idol season 12 Thursday night, making him the first of the Top 10 to leave the show.

On the Wednesday performance episode, famed music producer Jimmy Iovine was featured as a special guest coach, giving the contestants advice. During the pre-performance package, Iovine explained the difference between being "classic" and "retro" to Curtis. Apparently the gospel-pop tinged personality of Finch Jr. didn't get the message.

This year for the first time, American Idol is also letting viewers in on how the contestants ranked in votes. Candice Glover, Kree Harrison and Angie Miller were the top three (big surprise, these girls are going to be the final three without a doubt). In order, Lazaro Arbos, Amber Holcomb, Janelle Arthur, Burnell Taylor, Paul Jolley, Devin Velez remained on the show.

Also on Thursday night, previous eliminations Aubrey Cleland and Charlie Askew competed for a spot on the "American Idol Live!" summer tour. For the first time on American Idol viewers can vote for an 11^th contestant to join the Top 10 on the nationwide tour.

Last night's episode also featured a performance by 80s icon Bon Jovi and a separate performance from last year's Idol winner, Phillip Phillips, who performed his follow up single, "Gone, Gone, Gone". Bon Jovi sang "Because We Can" in a taped segment for Idol's Thursday night results show.
