Colton Dixon and His Life Changing Year

Most people don't know that Tennessee native, Colton Dixon, born on October 19, 1991, tried out for Season 10 of American Idol with his sister, Schyler . They both sang at the Nashville auditions but neither reached the Top 24. The next year, Colton came back to the American Idol auditions initially only to support his sister. However, he was coaxed by the judges to audition himself, singing David Cook's song, "Permanent." Dixon and his sister were awarded golden tickets to advance, but Schyler's hopes were cut short again as she was cut in the Las Vegas round for the 2nd year in a row.
