Marvin Winans 'The Praise and Worship Experience' Album Review

Grammy, Stellar, and Dove-award winning gospel singer, Marvin Winans, releases his first album in five years, The Praise and Worship Experience. This album serves as a debut for his very own production company, "MLW Productions." The Praise and Worship Experience is a compilation of talented gospel singers from Perfecting Church, located in Detroit, Michigan, where Marvin Winans serves in ministry. This album focuses on a raw and passionate gospel experience that shows off the depth and musical styles that many do not hear in traditional gospel music.

The album starts off slow, combining a beautiful piano ballad with the backing choir in their musical rendition of "Draw Me Close/Thy Will Be Done." It isn't flashy or musically mind-blowing, which is great because it shows the truth and honesty the singers place into the album. This song is a prayer between you and God, asking for Him to work in you.
Songs like "Glory Glory to God" bring a Latin upbeat mix not regularly seen in gospel albums. The vocals are simplistic and fun and show that you can still produce a quality song without fancy licks and trills.
"Influence My Heart" is the perfect track to show just how much this album breaks from the typical gospel mold. The combination of the opera and gospel music genre is a brilliant way to not only show musical diversity, but to bring in a new wave of listeners.

There are so many amazing things about this album; the main one being it indeed met their desired goal to create something more than the generic gospel album. The album has depth, soul, and great musical qualities that make each track different from the rest. The combination of so many musical styles will not only impress you, but will bring in so many different types of listeners. Even those who may not enjoy gospel will appreciate this album.
