Carrie Fisher to Reprise Princess Leia in New Star Wars Film?

If you were hoping to see Carrie Fisher in a gold bikini in the new Star Wars flick, sorry it isn't happening. Palm Beach Illustrated published a report quoting Fisher saying "yes" when asked about returning to her role of Princess Leia in the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII."
One of Fisher's reps told CNN, "she was joking," and that, "nothing has been announced." No casting has been confirmed, though rumors of Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill reprising the roles of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, respectively, have been heating up.

When Palm Beach Illustrated asked Fisher how she thinks Leia would act in the J.J. Abrams version of the saga she replied, "elderly," adding, "She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."
How Palm Beach Illustrated couldn't pick up on Fisher's dry sense of humor is beyond me. After her hilarious 2006 one-woman show, "Wishful Drinking," it's hard to take anything Fisher says too seriously.
Busy with an iconic space saga of his own, "Star Trek Into Darkness," Abrams was reluctant to take over the Star Wars franchise.
"I learned firsthand how incredible and persuasive she is," Abrams said of his initial meeting with Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. "The thing about any pre-existing franchise -- I'd sort of done that...but when I met with Kathy, it was suddenly very tantalizing."
Can lifelong "Star Wars" fan boy J.J. Abrams somehow channel Ms. Kennedy's power of seduction to persuade some of the original cast? We'll have to wait and see.
Use the force J.J.
