“The Bible” Miniseries on the History Channel Sparks Controversy

The History Channel mini-series "The Bible" has been the topic of discussion in Christian and secular circles alike. It was an incredibly impressive premiere episode. Critics were skeptical when they heard about a show based on the Bible coming out, but most were thoroughly pleased with the stunning cinematography and special effects as well as the acting. Executive producer Mark Burnett went to great lengths to not make this series something to be laughed at.
With that said, no matter how well the acting, or how detailed the editing, there will always be negative criticism, even Christians were saying it was about the money or Burnett was misinterpreting the stories. The truth is some people will never be satisfied and will always find something negative to point out.

However, as someone who watched with an open mind and talked with several others, many feel it was one of the best, if not the best, put together movies on the Bible to date. Also, as a Christian it's so exciting to watch the stories come to life in front of your eyes and help you view them as everyday people.
Not all reviews were stellar, here is what Robert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times had to say, "The Bible according to Burnett and Downey is a handsome and generally expensive-looking production, but it is also flat and often tedious, even when it tends to the hysterical, and as hard as the Hans Zimmer soundtrack strains to keep you on the edge of your sofa, the dialogue is pedestrian and functional... It is 'psychological' only in obvious ways, with the poetry of the King James version all but ignored."
It is to be seen if the ratings can stay up through the whole 5 part series culminating on Easter weekend. The buzz, whether positive or negative will keep people coming back. Episode 2 "Homeland" airs this Sunday night, March 10th. This episode will continue with Joshua conquering Jericho, Samson being betrayed by Delilah and the struggles facing King David.
