Micah Kinard of Oh, Sleeper
Beyond the screaming and blaring guitars that their fans have come to love them for, there is a deep message and a passionate heart for God in Christian heavy metal band Oh, Sleeper’s vocalist Micah Kinard which becomes clear when the singer speaks about Jesus.
“My perseption of Jesus runs hand-in-hand with the biblical description of Jesus, where I believe that He’s my Lord and Savior,” Kinard said in an interview with Enoch Magazine.
“I believe that He is the only thing that keeps God’s wrath from falling on me and He’s taken all that for me so I owe my life to Him.”

Known for his “screamo” vocals, the singer and his band have found a way to use heavy metal as a means to share the gospel, but their ministry isn’t limited to their performances, but is a lifestyle.
Looking from the outside, the concert would appear to be like other heavy metal concerts but the lyrics within the music give an indication of the rocker’s enthusiasm that extends beyond music as he jumps from one side of the stage to another engaging a captive audience.
“I’d say my life is my ministry. Music is apart of my ministry...”
Adding that music is something that he’s very passionate about, the singer went on to explain the source of his passion.
“I believe that my passion and talent in music is given by God and I want to glorify Him by using those and giving the glory back to Him...”
Releasing their third album, Children of Fire, for Solid State Records in September of 2011, the album depicts the life of a priest who has lost faith and finds it again throughout his musical journey with the band.
Reaching number 7 on the Rock Album charts with their newest album, the band will continue touring throughout 2012.
